Dethatching is a process in which thatch is removed from the grass & soil. Grasses that are grown in clay or silty soils (just like our area!) are prone to poor plant tissue break down. The best way to prevent thatch is to properly aerate at least once a year; however excess thatch due to poor breakdown of dead shoots, roots and stems can be greatly reduced by removing them in our dethatching process. The thatch is disposed of in any woodland setting or hauled off-site for a small fee. We do not recommend putting waste in a compost used for vegetable gardens due to fertilizer residues.
